Graduation Day and A New Home Card

Well what a fabulous couple of days we had in London to celebrate Amy's graduation, it was amazing, it was also Very Hot!  Amy graduated from London College of Fashion with a first class honours degree in Costume for Performance.  

The day before the ceremony we visited the Tour De France Fan Park as Kevin is an avid cyclist and we follow the TDF coverage each year.  We also had a quick peek at the London Eye but sadly didn't have the time to go on it (perhaps another visit to the capital is in order!)

Onto something craft related -

A little while ago my niece and her boyfriend bought their first house together and I made them a little 'New Home Card' so here are a couple of photos 

I have used a crafty Individuals stamp and some cheerful papers and embellishments from BoBunny. 

Sew Proud!

It's been a busy time lately and not much time for blogging but at least I have managed to craft :)  

I have made the card I am showing today for Amy who has just received her grade for her uni course, she has graduated with a First!  We are both so very proud of her!  Amy has been studying Costume for Performance at London College of Fashion and we will be attending the graduation ceremony on Tuesday 16th July, it is to be held at the Royal Festival Hall on the South bank of the Thames so of course such an event requires a new outfit, so it was off to the Trafford Centre this week and a new dress and shoes have been purchased :)  Really looking forward to the day.  

The card has been made using some Tim Holtz backing paper which I have sewn round using Amy's old sewing machine.  I die cut the mannequin and then inked and stamped it using Distress ink and a Christy Tomlinson stamp (Distressed Quilt)  I printed off some free sewing card downloads and then distressed them and added buttons and bakers twine.  I used my pc and printer to make the sentiment and stamped round the edge using a faux stitching stamp.  I then knotted some printed ribbon in the corner.

Well that's it for now but I do have a few more cards and pieces that I have made to show you but they will have to wait now until I am back from a couple of days in London.

Tag Swap, A Card and Some 'Candy' :)

Good evening everyone!  Hope your week has gone well and that the lovely sunny weather keeps up for the weekend.  It's been a busy couple of weeks so not much time for blogging. We have been working on the caravan which has been used as a 'paint store' for about 5 years, it's now looking beautiful, all cleaned out, new carpet fitted and almost ready for a few days away, fingers crossed that the good weather and time off work coincide :)

I wanted to share with you the beautiful tag that was sent to me by my friend and fellow blogger Debbie.  Debbie asked if I was interested in doing a 'Tag Swap' with her using the new Prima Doll stamps and I was delighted to receive this wonderful creation below, it now decorates my craft room wall, I just love it!  I just wanted to say a public thank you to Debbie for all the encouraging comments and the interest she shows in my blog.  'Thank You Debbie'

The card below is using an image from Saturated Canary that I purchased online, she is an adorable character and I just loved colouring her with my copics

Last but not least I saw this pretty little jar the other day and thought how 'sweet' it would look on my craft desk filled with little treats....Well you can guess...not many left now :)

An Afternoon of Spellbinders Demos

Good afternoon folks!  The weather report from North Yorkshire is cold, wet and rainy, interspersed with hail and the odd appearance of the sun :) 

Yesterday I went to see the talented Ken Oliver from Spellbinders demonstrating at Craft Range, Burnley.  It was a fabulous afternoon.  Here are a few photos I took of some of the wonderful things Ken made and the man himself :)

Giant Tags

Good afternoon all, hope you are all well, it's cold and windy here in North Yorkshire, a good excuse to craft...not that I need excuses, it's just a way of life :)

I have made these giant tags using my Julie Nutting stamps, I just LOVE them!  I have had so much fun choosing papers and dressing the figures, it has brought back memories of the paper dress-up dolls I had as a child.  I can't wait to do the next one....watch this space! :)

A Few More Art Journal Pages

Good afternoon everyone.  Thanks for all the well wishes for Maisie, she is improving each day, the news from the vet yesterday was that the lump that was removed was cancerous but she is confident that everything has been removed, we had an appointment with the vet to discuss what how she is doing and the vet is really pleased wit her recovery and has said she can resume a normal 'doggy' life, so we took her for an evening walk in the local woods, you would never have guessed she had just had major surgery, she was like a puppy :)

Well today I am showing some more of my Art Journal pages.  I am enjoying being creative and getting my thoughts down at the same time :)

A Poorly Maisie

Thanks for  popping in :)  I have been a little busy of late looking after my little Maisie, so not much blogging or crafting time.  Maisie had a visit to the vet last week after we found a small lump under her skin on her belly so as a precaution we booked her in for a check up with the vet.

Sadly the x-ray showed that poor Maisie had suffered some internal injuries, probably caused by being hit by a car which must have happened prior to us owning her as we got her from a private sale we saw on an Internet site advertising pets that needed re-homing when she was 3.5 years old.  This came as a huge shock to us both as we weren't expecting to hear anything other than news about the lump we had found.  Maisie's heart has become enlarged as her kidneys have been pushed up against it, her lungs were on top of each other, her liver had been completely flipped over and her diaphragm was damaged.  The surgery to put things back in place as best as possible, the repair of her diaphragm, the removal of the lump and a precautionary removal of her womb took the vet just over 4 hours.  As you can imagine Maisie has had to be watched over, pain killers and antibiotics given at regular intervals and kept quiet and lots of rest.  I am pleased to say that she is making good progress, her appetite is back to it's normal greedy self :) and she is much more lively, we just have to wait for the results of the lump that was removed and ease her back into a normal routine of walks and exercise.  

Really hope that Maisie's previous owners were not aware of these injuries before they advertised her for sale as I was so angry that she had suffered and they hadn't done anything for her and didn't mention anything to us when I asked about her health.  Anyway, she is in good hands now, she is loved and pampered by both myself and Kevin (he treats her like a baby!) :)
