The Adventurer

Good afternoon everyone, hope everyone is well and looking forward to the 'soggy' bank holiday weekend we are expecting :)  Nevermind, it's always a good excuse to stop in and be creative.  I made this card as I fancied a colouring in session.  I downloaded a Mo Manning image called  The Adventurer and coloured him with my copics.  I then cut him out with a nestie and inked the edges with Tim Holtz Tea Dye Distress ink.  I used the next size up die to cut out some kraft card and again inked the edges.  The backing paper is from 7 Gypsies.  The sentiment which I thought was just perfect for the image is from Lindsay Mason 'Creative Thoughts' stamp set.  I made a little compass from a Tim Holtz mini stamp and then cut it out using the Epiphany Shape studio and popped it into a little metal setting.  I was pleased with how the compass stamp fitted perfectly in the setting.

This image reminds me of the 'interesting' walks we had in the Lake District earlier this year with Kevin's brother and his wife....we set off, maps in hand and got lost every day :)

Thanks for popping by.

Sweet little birdies...Ahhhh

Today's little card was just the result of playing with a new stamp and a new Memory Box border die I have.  The cute little birds are from Darcie's.  I inked the umbrella with Tim Holtz 'Picked Raspberry' Distress ink and the rest of the stamp I inked with Memento black. I then coloured the rest of the image with my Promarkers and then cut out using a scalloped circle nestie.  I  found some paper that went perfectly with the pattern on the umbrella so I cut out a larger circle using the next size up of the nestie and then die cut the flower border from Memory Box with the same paper.  I did the same with the sentiment and then remembered a die I have had for a long time of a cute little bird so I cut him out of plain white card and then coloured the same colours as I have used on the little birds and popped him at the bottom of the card.  I added some tiny diamantes to the centre of the the flowers on the border to add a little sparkle.  Not sure who this card will be for but I am sure it will come in handy one day :)

Thanks for taking the time to pop by and hugs until the next time.

Tag Book

Today's creation has been a wonderful project to work on and has taken me a lonnnng time :)    I want to give credit to the two wonderful ladies at Lovin' Ink Janet and Michelle.  They made this project at a workshop at Samuel Taylors, Embsay Mills and as I was actually working on the day doing demonstrations they kindly gave me the pieces of card, acetate and  ribbon etc. that were needed to make the project and emailed me the instructions, so thank you Janet and Michelle.

I purposely saved this project to do whilst I am recovering from my op and have spent weeks putting together all the different stamps, ink pads, alcohol inks etc.  The object of the project was to use different surfaces to stamp onto and create backgrounds with alcohol inks.  I have had so much fun creating each tag and trying out different techniques.  I had never played with alcohol inks until now and I have fallen in love with them.

So here is the finished tag book!

I haven't photographed every page and each tag is double-sided.  There are others on acetate which didn't show too well on the photos.  I am thrilled with the completed book and  now need to make a fancy box to keep it in :)

Hope you like it and if you want to see more of Janet and Michelle's workshop details pop over to Lovin' Ink

Have a great day, Love Dawn x

A sporting interlude

As many of you know Kevin is a keen cyclist and enters lots of cycling events throughout the year.  We both follow the Tour de France and other big cycle races with great interest, and the Olympics, especially the cycling has been fantastic.  Today we were both excited to attend a local cycling event (one that Kevin usually enters but this year decided against as other events were more important to him and you can't do them all )  Anyway it was Bradley Wiggins launch of the 'Bradley Wiggins Foundation' and he was riding along with some of the entrants so we went along to see him.  The weather was awful and we ended up waiting in the pouring rain but managed to get some pics of him.

We also had the privilege of holding an Olympic Gold Medal that was won by Steve Burke in the Men's Team Pursuit cycle event....and yes it was very very heavy! :)

Kevin has ridden with Steve several times and it was such an honour to see how proud he was of gaining his first Olympic Gold Medal!

Well that's been my day today :) hope you have all had a great Sunday.
Hugs until the next time.

The Last of my wooden tags.....for now :)

This is the final of my wooden tags (only because I don't have any more blank ones!)  I have used an Octopede image that I have stamped and coloured in with my copics, then cut out.  I have again used Gesso to prime the wooden tag and the used acrylic paints in orange, pink and green and blended them together.  I then stamped some cogs and a 'bug' which  were from a stamp set by Sam Poole, called Steampunk Dreams the sentiment was also from the same set.  I added some circles using the eraser on the end of a pencil in white and silver inks and to finish off I added some mini cogs from Tim Holtz.  I have all three tags stood next to each other and I must admit I am chuffed to bits with them, just need Kevin to put some hooks on the back and then they can decorate my craft room.
Hope you are all well and enjoying your Sunday morning.  I am hoping to finish my next project today, it has already been started but I don't want to rush it :)  Thanks for taking the time to visit my Blog and leaving your comments I am always thrilled to read them :)
Love and Hugs

Create You Own Story!

I am having so much fun with these wooden tag shapes :)  I made this yesterday using the Ruby Rainbow stamp from Dylusions another purchase from Art from the Heart.  I primed the wooden tag with Gesso and once dry, I applied acrylic paint colours in pale green and yellow.  I stamped and cut out 'Ruby', coloured her with copic pens and added some tiny brad buttons (think they are Woodware). I added some glossy accents to the welly boots.  I stamped the sentiment which came from the Lindsay Mason Creative Thoughts set and cut out the words individually and stuck them onto the background.  I used a Kaisercraft stamp, Bubble Wrap with Brilliance White inkpad to make a faint design on the background and then used an eraser on the top of a pencil to stamp again with a silver ink pad.  Hope you like the completed tag :)

Have Faith...

Good  afternoon.  Well today I  am showing my first 'Inspirational' wooden tag. I saw these tags when I was in Art From the Heart in Harrogate, I liked the size of them and the smoothness of the wood appealed to my sense of touch.  I gave the wooden shape an undercoat of white acrylic paint and then once it was dry I used lilac, green and orange paint to cover in patches.  I then stamped a background using grey and black memento using the feather/leaf stamp that came with the Lindsay Mason stamp set I have used.  I stamped and coloured the winged  girl, coloured her with copics and cut her out and stuck her with Glue n'seal to the tag.  I added a border of Tim Holtz sticky tape and a little metal butterfly charm.  The sentiment comes from another Lindsay Mason set called Creative Thoughts.   I am quite pleased with the finished result and even more pleased when I showed the finished article to Kevin as he asked me where I had bought it :)

Diversion on the road to recovery....

Having started to feel slightly better and even having a little energy to craft, I found myself quite poorly on  wednesday, I went into a shivery fever and felt as though every ounce of energy had been sapped from me.  I ended up ringing NHS direct for their advice and after going through about every symptom I could possibly have they decided to send out my 'out of hours' GP to visit me, she arrived just before 10 pm.  My temperature was up and she thinks I have developed an infection internally so I am now on two different antibiotics!  Never mind, I am sure I will soon be 'fighting fit' (not that I have ever been that fit!)

I am now posting my 4th Canvas, it's been a long time in the making but I have eventually put it all together and I am quite pleased with how it has worked out.  I have used Stampbotique Monster with sign, a mushroom house stamp from Polkadoodles, too tall mushrooms from Dylusions and the text stamp was a mini Tim Holtz stamp.  All the images have been coloured using Copic pens and the canvas has been painted with Acrylic paints.  The little cloud stamp is from a set by Darcie's.  The words at the bottom are a Tim Holtz sticky tape.  I am quite pleased with this little canvas, it will go along side my first canvas (see previous post).  Thanks for taking the time to look and comment.  Hope you are all enjoying the sunshine that has appeared over the last couple of days :) Its really does make you feel better!

I'm Back! :)

Well I am now on the road to recovery following my operation, it's been a strange few weeks with lots of pain, tears and discomfort along with the lovely things like all the beautiful flowers and thoughtful cards I have received and the many visits I have had from friends and family. I still have a fair way to go before I am back to full 'fitness' but at least I have found the energy to craft :)

The two cards I am showing today have been made using my new Moreheads cd, I have made them both using the shaped cards section which is one of the main reasons I bought the cd :)  They are both simple cards which is about all I feel up to at present.  I have also used the Epiphany shape studio to make the little embellishments and added glitter and gems to them both.

Thanks for looking and taking the time to leave comments, it's really appreciated.
